Applications have been invited from highly motivated students for admission to the Ph.D. programme beginning in January 2012 at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram.

Ph.D disciplines offered in: i) Biological Sciences ii)  Chemical Sciences iii) Physical Sciences iv) Mathematical Sciences

Eligibility:
Biological Sciences:- Candidates must satisfy any one of the following criteria to apply for the Ph.D. programme in the School of Biology at IISER-TVM starting from 1st January 2012.

1. Masters degree in Biological/Chemical/Physical/Mathematical/ Allied Medical Sciences or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Medicine. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable.
2. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of January, 2012: CSIR-UGC-JRF/DBT-JRF/GATE/ICMR JRF.
   
Chemical Sciences:- Masters degree in Chemistry with 60% marks or equivalent is desirable. Candidates should qualify CSIR-UGC-JRF/GATE with validity as on 1st of January 2012. Previous research experience and quality publications will be considered as an added qualification.

Physical Sciences:- Masters degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering or Technology in areas closely related to the interests of the physics faculty at IISER TVM. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of January 2012: GATE/CSIR-UGC-JRF. Applicants with M. Tech need a GATE score valid as of 1st January 2011.

Mathematical Sciences:- Candidates must satisfy any one of the following criterion to apply for the Ph.D. programme in the School of Mathematics at IISER-TVM starting from 1st January 2012.
1. Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology in a relevant area with desired CPI of 6.5 (or 60% of marks) with valid GATE score as on 1st January 2011.
2. Master’s degree in Mathematics / Statistics / in a relevant area of science with desired CPI of 6.5 (or 60% of marks) and a valid CSIR-UGC-JRF/NBHM/GATE as on 1st January 2012.
3. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in a relevant area with a desired CPI of 7.0 (or 65% of marks), an appearance in the Indian National Math Olympiad (INMO) in class XI or XII, and a valid CSIR-UGC-JRF/NBHM/GATE as on 1st January 2012. Application forms can be downloaded
The completed  application along with Demand Draft for Rs.200/-(Rs.100/- for SC/ST) drawn in favour of the Registrar,  Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram should reach The Dean (Academics), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram, CET Campus, Engineering College PO, Thiruvananthapuram – 695016, Kerala. Deadline for submission of the application is 30th September 2011
