Amid controversy that he had secured a MBBS seat under NRI quota for his daughter in the co-operative self-financing Pariyaram medical college in Kannur by paying capitation, DYFI state treasurer V V Ramesan, today said his daughter would give up the seat.
'I have decided to give up the admission secured for my daughter for MBBS course. I apologise to the people and to my organisation', Ramesan told reporters here.
Ramesan said he had paid Rs 5 lakh and the cheque for the amount was given by his NRI brother-in-law.
He said 'I had been doing business for the last 20 years and there is transparency on my income'.
Recently Kerala Health Minister Adoor Prakash too had given up the PG seat secured for his daughter in the Pariyaram Medical College, in the wake of controversy.
Though, there was no irregularities in getting admission it has been decided give up the seat in view of the moral value that a public servant should be above suspicion', Prakash had said.
